Yes the first case of West Nile Virus was confirmed this
past Fri,reported by Pete Tripi Sr Public health sanitarian
for erie county.
A mosquito from a pond on Dann Rd in North amherst , tested
positive for the virus.
Stating “it’s the Culex species , the type we are worried
about”
To help prevent the spreading of the virus, wear mosquito
repellent and wear long sleeve shirts,and pants
and avoid the heavily brushed areas.
It cause flulike symptoms.
The risk is low but the virus is carried by mosquitos to
animals and humans through their bite.
So message is let the venturer beware , and use caution.
